Wow, is a word that comes to mind when I reviewed the Stairmaster Stepmill 7000 PT. I had been going to the local health club for a few years and had passed this very large machine but never had given this stair stepping machine a second glance.
Was I ever wrong, the Stairmaster Stepmill 7000 PT provided a fantastic workout, this little gem, little is a relative term since the piece of gym equipment is usually the largest fitness machine in the health club, provided one of the best workouts I had ever experienced.
Unlike treadmills that can be hard on your knees and ellipticals that can get a little boring, this fitness machine gives you a cardio workout and a lower body workout all at the same time.
The Stairmaster Stepmill 7000 PT is for all intents and purposes a mini staircase on steroids. You can get started quickly on this machine by simply hitting the quick start button and putting in your desired speed.
This exercise machine provides an led screen that shows the steps you have taken, the amount of floors you have climbed and the equivalent mileage you have gone. In addition to those stats there are a number of other facts that are displayed such as calories burned an hour plus the ability to adjust the speed on the fly.
You can adjust the speed anywhere from 24 to 162 steps a minute along with over 20 different resistance variations and 6 different workout programs. The steps are 8" so that you can mostly closely resemble the virtual motion of climbing real stairs.
In fact the only downside that I found with this machine was the price tag which is over $5,000 for a brand new Stairmaster Stepmill 7000 PT, which is why you usually only find one or two of these machines, if you are lucky, in health clubs and rehabilitation clinics.
So the next time you want a cardio workout and lower body resistance training, give the stepmill 7000 a shot and I know you will find this exercise machine as rewarding as I did.
